ATO to get more involved in payroll reporting – are you ready?

TBS Developers

June 5, 2018

From 1 July 2018, all employers with 20 staff or more will be required to report through STP (single touch point) when they pay employees – this will include wages, salaries, PAYG & super. For employers with 19 employees or less this will apply from 1 July 2019.

Whilst this will have no impact on your businesses payroll cycle, it does mean that employee’s payroll & super information is sent to ATO from your payroll solution every payday. The payment date for PAYG withholding tax & super contributions will not change, but you may elect to pay earlier. Payment summaries at EOFY may not be required as the ATO will make that info available through MyGov.
